*Ocimum basilicum Linnaeus. Mediterranean Basil. Phen: Apr-Jun. Hab: Commonly cultivated in gardens, rarely persistent for short times around gardens or as a waif on trash-heaps, probably not persistent in most of our area. Dist: Native of tropical Asia and tropical Africa.
